Amber Museum - what will you see?

The Palanga Amber Museum will interest you in 15 renovated rooms of the palace, each of which reveals the history of amber, from the hall dedicated to the creators of the place, the Counts of Tiškevičius, to the story of how amber is formed, processed and used.

You will start your visit to the museum from the basement floor, where there is a children's area where young visitors can colour a specially designed book about amber, play the game "Amber Road", search for amber in the sand or engage in interesting, modern, interactive games.

Further down, on the first floor of the palace, there are several rooms dedicated to the creators of the residence, the Counts Tiškevičius. Here you will learn about their cultural and artistic activities and their contribution to the development of Palanga. Did you know that Count Feliks Tiškevičius collected amber and even mined it himself? Here you will see his archaeological collection of amber.

The marble staircase to the second floor welcomes you to the newly renovated Amber Exhibition Hall with its collection of amber inclusions, one of the largest in the world. It also showcases the Amber Museum's golden fund, the exposition has been enriched with never-before-seen exhibits, and invites visitors to learn in detail about the formation and use of amber. We are sure that you will be amazed by the impressive size of the ambers and their exhibits, as well as by the exposition of ambers with inclusions.

After a look around the amber exhibits and learning about the history of amber, you will enter the Grand Salon of the former palace, which is now a café, where you can sit down for a cup of tea or coffee, or enjoy a French dessert.

You can end your visit to the museum with a visit to the terrace of the palace, where you can enjoy the views of the Birutė Park and the Rosary, designed by the French landscape architect E.F. Andre at the end of the 19th century, and the overall atmosphere allows you to feel the spirit of the palace.

Throughout your visit to the museum, you can use the audio guides on your tablets to provide an interesting, non-"dry" narration that explains the history of amber in a simple and clear way.
